Equine Craniosacral Care is foundational work to get the horse back into balance.
I recommend starting every horse with a craniosacral/biomechanical assessment.
The assessment includes examining the symmetry of the face, the condition of the topline, and the horse's habitual posture. I also evaluate the horse's movement at a walk.
The balance of the horse's teeth and feet is also considered.
Craniosacral Care is a complementary and alternative approach that focuses on the health of the craniosacral system and neuromuscular health. It addresses the skull's bones, the fluidity of the sacrum, and the Core Link, which includes the spine.
Craniosacral therapy is quickly gaining favor in human medicine as a treatment for people with head injuries. It is also found to be of benefit to horses who have had head injuries or other trauma.
Biodynamic CST is very effective. I use the horse's fluid body to release old straining patterns that pull the fascia out of balance.
Fascia is a thin, protective membrane that lines all cells and body parts. Through everyday wear and tear, as well as injuries, the fascia becomes tight to protect the body's structures. Over time, this protection can become overbearing, and the horse loses function due to tight fascia.
Myofascial release is a manual therapy technique that addresses restrictions in the myofascial system. It can relieve pain, improve mobility, and enhance overall well-being.
Musculoskeletal Unwinding is a neuromuscular massage focusing on the fascia surrounding the nerve pathways of joints, muscles, and organs.
It is a hands-on therapy that uses gentle, sustained pressure and movement to encourage the body to release tension and restrictions in the fascia and muscles.
I have comprehensive training in equine muscular massage. Regular massages enhance a balanced horse's health, well-being, and athletic condition. While I offer this modality to any horse, it is more effective and long-lasting for balanced horses.
Ideally, the balance should come first.
The craniosacral system, teeth, hooves.
I developed the hybrid massage for horses who have completed several BCST sessions.
Horses should receive some maintenance sessions after they have returned to balance.
Hybrid massage is now available for any horse.
The session will include a few components of biodynamic craniosacral care. Using any of my typical modalities, I will custom-tailor the complete session to your horse's needs.
I do not offer electronic or magnetic field appliances in my practice.
The safety and effectiveness of these appliances is not well documented.
The only adjuncts I offer to my work are Infrared Light Therapy and Kinesiology Taping.
We don't usually know how they became damaged and out of balance. You can blame everyday horse life and horseplay. The point is your horse will continue to be a horse after they are back in balance. There's still horse life and horseplay.
I recommend booking a maintenance session for your horse every 3-6 months.
You don't want to go back to a damaged horse that requires several sessions to get right again.
